Established in 1965, URC offers a range of technical assistance to strengthen health and social systems and service quality by empowering communities and health workers to identify and scale up locally appropriate solutions to critical problems. URC focuses on finding ways to deliver proven approaches to health care problems, applying quality improvement (QI) methods and conducting operations research to tailor those approaches to various settings. Roles and Responsibilities

  • The Early Childhood Development (ECD) Specialist will provide technical support for the anticipated Zambia Scaling up Nutrition Technical Assistance project
  • The ECD Specialist will contribute to program development and implementation by providing in-person technical assistance to build capacity among program staff and stakeholders and support the incorporation of ECD into multi-sectoral nutrition planning and budgeting
  • Provide technical programming, design, implementation, monitoring and evaluation support with integrated ECD programming
  • Conduct a situational analysis of current gaps in ECD programming in Zambia if needed
  • Develop platforms for multi-sectoral ECD programming, leveraging existing programs and infrastructure when possible
  • Adapt and test ECD platforms and programs based on situational analysis and key stakeholder input
  • Assist with knowledge sharing efforts to disseminate project experiences and results
  • Assist with the development of technical resources adapted to the local context
  • Supporting the implementation of integrated nutrition/ECD programs and policies at decentralized levels, through capacity development of staff and stakeholders

Qualifications

  • University degree in education, public administration/health, nutrition, psychology, human development, child development, or related field is required
  • Three to five years experience; preferred early childhood development related program experience in developing country context
  • Fluency in English is required
  • Experience in materials development to support ECD programming
  • Strong communication and training skills
  • Experience with integrated nutrition/ECD programs preferred
