Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct on the job training on all Drill and blasting equipment
  • Facilitate off the job classroom PowerPoint presentations – this includes all compliance/generic courses for drill equipment
  • Conduct theory and practical assessment in accordance with the assessment principles and in accordance with FQML assessment guidelines
  • Conduct pre-employment assessment in accordance with the company guidelines – Demonstration of prior
  • Learning (DPL) and Recognition of prior Learning (RPL)
  • Coach and mentor operators on the job in order to improve machine operational efficiency and also improve production
  • Implement Daily/weekly Training assignment schedule as it contains the daily assignment Task for the day
  • Apply the training Nomination , Training systems and permit issuance processes
  • Able to fill in all paper work in a correct way and within the required timeframe and also hand them over to the administrator for filling
  • Assists with development of Training Need Analysis (TNA) and training audits as directed by the simulator
  • Senior Trainer or the Training coordinator
  • Assists with development of operator learning materials and documentation (Manuals, PowerPoint and assessment tools) as directed by the simulator senior Trainer or the Training coordinator
  • Safe operation of all the Equipment under your jurisdiction
  • Report the daily training activities through the Daily Training Log sheet and through the Trainer Daily individual report
  • Any other duties as directed by the supervisor


  • Certificate IV in Training & Assessing/SAQA certificate or equivalent
  • Certificate in Computer skills (Word, Excel PowerPoint & Outlook)
  • Full Grade twelve certificate
  • Certificates in SME Operations (Haul trucks)
  • First Aid certificate will be an added advantage
  • Blasting certificate will be an added advantage 3 years plus experience as working as simulator Trainer/Assessor
  • Five (5) years plus experience as an SME Operator (Haul Trucks)
  • Skills in Excavator /shovel operations will be an added advantage

Key Skills and Knowledge Required:

  • Knowledge in General Management procedure (GMP)
  • Knowledge in scheduling systems using Training calendar
  • Knowledge in Surface Mobile Equipment Operation
  • Facilitation, Presentation and caching skills
  • SME Operation, Training and Assessment skills
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to speak, read and write in English
