Croc Valley Camp is set on the banks of the picturesque Luangwa River. Set in riverine forest, the camp is deliberately inconspicuous so as to retain the natural beauty of its surroundings. An abundance of wildlife such as elephants, monkeys, hippos and a wide variety of antelope often pass through the camp and can be seen most days from the safety of the camps shaded rondavels, the bar and restaurant and from the chalets.
The chalets are completely environmentally friendly and are built from local natural products allowing them to fit effortlessly into the surrounding riverine. In order to escape the off-season floods, the chalets are raised on stilts, providing a fantastic viewpoint from which to see the wildlife that wanders through the camp while still encapsulating that rustic luxury. It is not uncommon to see elephants crossing the river and strolling through the camp.
Bird life can also be viewed in abundance with exceptional sightings of many of the migratory birds plus regular residents like open billed storks, African fish eagles, bee-eaters and many more.
Throughout your stay, chefs provide delicious quality meals and snacks from original recipes using fresh ingredients. For those who wish to self-cater or camp, full kitchen facilities are provided. A fully-serviced camp-site with parking areas, summer huts, power points, hot showers and ablutions, welcomes campers and overland trucks. Croc Valley Camp also provides lodge accommodation as an alternative to sleeping under canvas.
Safaris
Escorted by a professional guide and fully trained scout, travel along nature trails outside the park in the surrounding riverine habitat along the river. Whether you want to go on safari in the comfort of the especially adapted game viewing vehicle or to venture out on foot, safaris are tailored to meet the needs of guests with resident guides with intimate knowledge. Drives are conducted in either Toyota Land Cruisers or the camp's 20-seater vehicles for larger groups, these are designed to watch Croc Valleys carbon footprint in the park.
Between safaris, in the midday heat, the "hippo friendly" swimming pool is perfect for sun bathing and cooling off and hammocks are scattered around the camp for lazing around and watching the world go by. The bar and restaurant can be utilized at any time of the day and both offer perfect views of the river and the wildlife that uses it.
