Camping here is perfect for those on overland adventures as well as people just looking for a weekend away suitable for the family and groups of friends. The grounds are large which means there is plenty of space for everyone. It is peaceful, interrupted only by bird song and sounds of people having fun and its a great place to make fiends. The whole area is surrounded by an inconspicuous electric fence to ensure complete security.
At the centre of Pioneer Camp is the 'Chitenge' open thatched bar and restaurant. The ‘Chitenge’, with its friendly staff, is definitely the place to exchange tales of adventure with fellow travellers! For residents only, it's open from 07.00 to 23.00 every day. Tea and coffee are available on tap and, along with other drinks from the bar, can be brought to your chalet on request. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are also served in the ‘Chitenge’. Pioneer Camp is well known for its candle lit braais (BBQs) and tasty meals served in the evenings – in particular the tasty 500gm T-bone steaks!
