Kafue National Park is the second largest game park in the world. Puku Pan, situated right across the river from the National Park, is a comfortable and rustic safari lodge designed to blend in with its extraordinary natural surroundings. It serves as a base for a full range of safari activities including the life-changing walking safari, boat trips on the river and visits to nearby villages.
The trees overlooking the cottages provide the perfect resting place for more than 400 bird species which have been identified in the area. At the back of the safari lodge a permanent water hole attracts Zambian wildlife all year round. Birds come to feed, Puku antelopes come to drink and elephants come to play. On the Kafue River, the inquisitive eyes of the half-submerged hippos will follow your boat’s course. On the banks, beautiful palm, waterberry and sausage trees cast mottled shadows over the wildlife that makes its way to the river to drink. The lodge offers outstanding fishing waters with plenty of pike, bream, silver barbel and catfish amongst the river’s rocky outcrops.
The bar and dining area overlook the river offering spectacular views and relaxation. Matthews is in charge here and the experienced and friendly staff will go out of their way to accommodate your wishes. The food caters to a European standard with an exciting African flair.
Despite its reclusive location Puku Pan Safari Lodge is open throughout the year. Find Puku Pan Safari Lodge hidden deep in the forest — a five hour drive or just a 40 minute flight from Lusaka. Transport can be arranged by road or by air.
