The guests at Tamarindtree Zambezi River Lodge usually spend most of their time out on the Zambezi River. The team at Tamarindtree enjoy fishing and are good at showing guests how and where to fish so they can experience the thrill of having a 'tiger on the line' — the tiger is after all one of the fastest and strongest fresh water game fish one can catch. The Zambezi River is also home to other angling fish such as Bream, Cornish Jack, Vundu and Chessa.

In Zambia, the fishing season starts in March and finishes at the end of November. But the peak months for tiger fishing are from mid-August through to November. At this time higher water temperatures encourage more activity as the tiger fish prepare for their spawning season. Tamarindtree has a catch and release policy and only injured fish are kept - and perhaps one for the table.

Fishing at Tamarindtree takes place mainly from boats but bank angling is also possible. Sizeable tiger fish have been caught within meters of the lodge itself and with three kilometres of Zambezi River frontage you have lots of bank to choose from.

Boat trips from Tamarindtree into the Lower Zambezi National Park and the Mpata Gorge will take you to some of the finest fresh water fishing locations in Africa. Bass boats are used as they offer a good casting platform. Most fishing enthusiasts bring their own equipment but some tackle is available for hire too. By prior arrangement fishing trips can also be arranged to the upper reaches of Cahora Bassa Dam.

Other activities that can be arranged are bird watching, bush walks on river trails and game viewing cruises.
