Intercape has an outstanding record for safety, service and reliability making it one of the leading service providers in the coach industry and a major national road passenger carrier. Intercape has one of the largest infrastructures in the intercity industry, with well organised offices and support depots in Windhoek, Maputo, Geberone, Upington, Cape Town, Mosselbay, George, Port Elizabeth, Queenstown, King Williams Town, Durban, Pietermaritzburg, Johannesburg, Nelspruit, Pretoria, Bloemfonte, and towns across Zambia.

The Intercape fleet
Intercape has a fleet of 90 coaches, which includes 57 luxury double decker coaches (44/52 seaters) and 42 single deck coaches (60/66 seaters). The coach service currently handles 49 daily departures. Each bus is fully air conditioned with on-board toilet facilities. Intercape buses offer comfortable seating with reclining seats and adequate leg space. Audio and visual in-car entertainment is also available and friendly cabin attendants are available to assist passengers. All buses are operated by trained professional drivers which has attributed to Intercape’s unbeatable safety record. Secure luggage storage is also available.
An easy 24 hour reservation facility is available for clients who would like to reserve seats in advance. Discounts are offered for families, students, children and senior citizens.
Intercape Sleepliner bus service
Intercape boasts a Sleepliner fleet that consists of top of the range imported coaches which guarantee comfort, performance, safety and reliability. The Sleepliner fleet offers brand new sleeper seats and Intercape is the first coach service to offer this facility in Southern Africa. The Sleepliner service is offered at competitive prices to enable as many customers as possible to enjoy the comfort of this unique service.
Mainliner bus service
With a record of uncompromising excellence, the Intercape Mainliner seamlessly covers a vast network of cities and major towns throughout Southern and Central Africa. From the moment you book your ticket right up to the point that your luggage is handed over to you, Intercape ensures that your journey is a smooth, comfortable and safe.
Loyalty and discounts
Intercape has a loyalty programme for frequent travellers. Travellers who accumulate 10 tickets are entitled to a 10% discount voucher which is valid for three months.
Each passenger is permitted to take two pieces of luggage which do not exceed 80cm x 60cm x 30cm in size, with a total weight that does not exceed 20 kilograms. Luggage is weighed by Intercape and the bus service company reserves the right to charge and additional rate per kilogram for luggage that exceeds 20 kilogram. Intercape reserves the right to refuse the carriage of luggage that does not comply with these conditions. Passengers should obtain an Intercape luggage sticker when boarding.
Parcel delivery services
Intercape now offers a parcel delivery service between any of their Intercape offices. The Intercape route includes all major towns in Zambia and Southern Africa and staff members will ensure that whatever you send will reach its destination safely. Collection is available within 48 hours.
Intercape does not provide any insurance cover for its passengers, their property or luggage. All passengers should ensure that they are adequately insured. Large items must be carried in the luggage compartment and loaded only by Intercape’s employees, agents or other persons acting on behalf of Intercape.
Unaccompanied luggage will not be carried. Intercape is not responsible for loss or damage to passengers’ luggage, hand luggage or personal effects, except if such loss or damage arises directly or indirectly from the gross negligence or wilful misconduct of Intercape or any person acting for or controlled by Intercape.
Intercape will not participate in any way whatsoever in the transport of drugs, weapons or illegal items and will co-operate in full with the authorities in any country, to prevent the transport of these items on its vehicles. No bicycles, electronic equipment, fishing rods, surfboards, abnormal boxes, plastic carrier bags and perishables will be carried. The carrying of firearms, ammunition and/or fireworks is not permitted on any of Intercape’s vehicles.
Intercape has launched a new service between Lusaka and Livingstone, starting 1st April, 2012. This route will service Monze and Choma towns.
The Intercape coach service company has an agent office in Lumumbashi in the Democratic Republic of Congo were people wishing to travel with Intercape can purchase a ticket. However, customers who purchase tickets from this office have to connect from the Intercity bus terminal in Lusaka, Zambia.
