Air Zimbabwe: Flights

Air Zimbabwe offers a refreshing alternative for cheap flights to Zambia. Since its inception Air Zimbabwe has demonstrated good safety records, pilot skills and in-flight customer service. Air Zimbabwe offers frequent flier benefits through its Rainbow Club membership. Air Zimbabwe also offers commercial charter services catering for groups between 100 to 200 people to domestic, regional and international destinations. In the past years Air Zimbabwe has flown United Nations missions, the Zimbabwe national soccer team and other sports teams to various destinations. Air Zimbabwe has been flying since 1946.

Air Zimbabwe’s route network is of particular interest during the 2010 FIFA World Cup, with regular flights between South Africa and Zambia, for football fans to take advantage of their visit to Southern Africa for adventure travel hot spots such as Livingstone and the Victoria Falls. International football fans may even consider staying in Zambia during the World Cup period to avoid a bustling South Africa and high accommodation prices. Fans can then fly to South Africa with Air Zimbabwe’s cheap flights for their chosen football matches.

General pre-flight information
Air Zimbabwe asks that passengers reconfirm their return booking within 72 hours of flight departure. Note that failure to do this will result in the cancellation of the reservation. Baggage information
The following security questions will be asked by check-in agents - Is this your bag? Did you pack it yourself? Has anyone given you anything to carry for him/her? Since you packed your bag, have you left your bag unattended? Do you have any battery operated items in your bag?

The maximum weight of hand baggage is 8kgs, and each piece must not exceed the dimensions of 51cmx20cmx38cm. Personal items such as overcoats, walking sticks, small cameras, laptops and ladies handbags may be carried in the cabin unconditionally. Medicines and toiletries are also permitted in limited quantities and may be carried provided they are packed in accordance with current cargo regulations. The baggage allowance for infants on domestic and regional flights is 10kg.

The following items are prohibited and must not be carried in any passengers' bags: compressed gases such as butane, oxygen, liquid nitrogen, aqualung cylinders; corrosives such as acids, alkalis, mercury and wet cell batteries; explosives like munitions, fireworks and flares; flammable liquids and solids such as lighter fuel, matches, paints, thinners and fire lighters; radioactive material; brief cases and attaché cases with installed alarm devices; oxidizing materials such as bleaching powder and peroxides; poisonous and infectious substances such as insecticides, weed killers and live virus materials.

The following items are only allowed in checked-in baggage (not in hand luggage): catapults, household cutlery, knives, penknives, envelope openers, razor blades, tradesman’s tools, darts, scissors, knitting needles, sporting bats, horse whips and umbrellas.
