Specialty Emergency Services is a trusted emergency service company that has been in existence in Zambia since 1991. With their own advanced life support medical personnel and ambulances, SES has proven itself in emergency situations time and time again. The medical response team made up of paramedic and nursing sisters are available 24 hours a day to assist ill or injured patients. The highest medical standards are met as all paramedics are trained in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS®), Advanced Paediatric Life Support (APLS®), Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS®) and Aviation Medicine. An Intensive Care Unit (ICU) nurse is stationed in Livingstone and there is an office staffed by an ICU nurse to monitor and liaise with patients in Johannesburg, South Africa.
Within Zambia and the region, SES has the capability to provide emergency response air ambulance evacuations from small rural airstrips to local medical centres both in Lusaka and the Copperbelt and, if required, onwards to first grade hospitals in South Africa. This special emergency response team has a database of local and regional doctors, clinics, medical and health care facilities that is extensive and regularly updated. Emergency response evacuation in Zambia takes place within hours of the initial call being made, and the team follows up with all clients who have to travel outside Zambia for medical treatment.
Specialty Emergency Services is at present the only advanced life support (ALS) ambulance service in Zambia and offers patients the highest standard of medical care. SES are medical service providers for Health Care and Medical Aid companies from Europe, the UK, USA and Australia, including BUPA, PPP, AXA, the Europa Group and Medex. Ground and ambulance support is provided for SOS, Europe Assistance and other Assistance companies who do not have local representation in the region.
Lusaka, Kitwe and Livingstone base
The Lusaka emergency service office is run on a 24 hour basis with a control centre, advanced life support (ALS) ambulances and personnel, air ambulance evacuation services and administration for the whole of Zambia. Key medical personnel are on site at all times facilitating immediate response times for emergency responses, ambulance calls, coordination of air ambulance evacuations and immediate validation of client’s membership. The Lusaka base has an up-to-date communication centre with multiple land lines, radio phone links, mobile phones, satellite phones, HF and VHF radios all of which maintained on standby generated power to ensure continual uninterrupted communications and administrative systems.
The Kitwe emergency response base has been in operation for over 6 years and runs two advanced life support (ALS) ambulances, with two paramedics based on the Copperbelt on a permanent basis. This special emergency response team base serves local clientèle, the local community and the mining community.
The Livingstone emergency service office was opened in 2005 in response to requests from both the local and tourist community. It now provides an emergency service and air ambulance service to Livingstone Zambia.

Med Gold: Provides medical evacuation for any condition that is deemed to be life threatening as well as elective out of country procedures, consultations and treatment.
Med silver: Provides emergency medical evacuation and hospitalisation for any condition that is deemed to be life threatening within six hours of the call placed to SES.
Med bronze: Provides emergency medical evacuation for any condition that is deemed life threatening within six hours of the call placed to Specialty Emergency Services.
Med tour: Designed to provide tour operators, businesses and individuals with cover for their clients who already hold Medical Insurance or Medical Aid cover outside of Zambia access to facilities and services on the ground in Zambia.
Med access: Allows members of any organisation, or people who have travel medical insurance through insurance policies outside of Zambia access to SES network of services.
Ambulance plan: Designed to assist residents of Lusaka and Kitwe during life threatening medical emergencies.
