As part of its Responsible Tourism Policy, Robin Pope Safaris works closely with the community by supporting Kawaza School, Kakumbi Rural Health Centre, South Luangwa Conservation Society and Kawaza Tourism Village. Robin Pope Safaris also run a project of reforestation called Reforest Nsefu. This work over the last 20 years has helped Robin Pope safaris establish an excellent relationship with the community.
Kawaza Tourism Village
Working together with the Nsefu community, Robin Pope Safaris has to start the Kawaza Village. The Kawaza village is a day to day village but extra huts have been built to house overnight visitors. Day visitors are also welcome. Activities at Kawaza village include spending time with the villagers and learning about their life. There is a chance to meet the Chief, a local traditional healer, spend a morning with the ladies collecting water and cooking, help with constructions and dancing lessons with the ladies. The food is traditional and delicious and a cold box of water and drinks is provided on this visit. When visiting the Village, guest of Robin Pope Safaris are accompanied by a guide who will stay overnight at the village to help guests enjoy the stay, as well as supplying the security of a vehicle and radio in case of emergencies. Many guests of Robin Pope Safaris have described the visit to Kawaza village as the highlight of their safari.
