The aim is to ensure young primary students find their school a place they enjoy where their best achievements are celebrated. At Chudleigh House Primary School they are appreciated, challenged and rewarded. The primary level of education places emphasis on the acquisition of basic numeracy and literacy skills. Teaching methods slowly become more formal and children experience a noticeable division in classroom timetables. This requires the development self-discipline and organisational skills. The atmosphere is friendly, quiet and stimulating and nurturing qualities are very evident in the school. Pupils are lovingly challenged and allowed to exert their individual characters.
Educational subjects
As well as numeracy and literacy, science, social studies and religious education is taught at Chudleigh House Primary School. Lessons are also taught through activities such as music, stories, art, physical education and free play which build teamwork and confidence in the children. Each child is encouraged to join a club or to participate in extra-curricular activities. Guided by experienced, enthusiastic teachers and support staff, the children are encouraged to be confident, independent and creative problem solvers. There is a pupil support programme that is extensive and of great benefit to the children. The school has a proud tradition of success in examinations and the pupils find themselves having gained a strong footing in their education when they go on to further study at secondary schooling level. The school library is continuously developed and it supplements the teaching efforts of the staff.
Computers and technology
Computer literacy is taught from grades one to nine and it familiarises the students with all aspects of computer technology. Children make the most of a well equipped computer centre with qualified, dedicated and experienced staff.
Extra-curricular activities
A wide variety of activities and clubs are available for the children to participate in. Clubs include chess, scouts and girl guides, scripture union, debate, poetry, music, traditional dance, art, chongololo club and drama.
