At Bookworld Ltd, education is the priority. This Zambian company has been providing books and stationery to the Zambian public since 1990. Bookworld's reputation has been enhanced by their involvement and experience in working with suppliers of stationery, publishers and booksellers worldwide. For the convenience of their customers there are currently six Bookworld bookshops in Lusaka, one in Livingstone and two in Kitwe. Bookworld intends to expand even further, to make their educational material available all over Zambia.
Ranges of books stocked
Bookworld aims to satisfy the need of all individuals, catering for young and old. Books in stock include Ladybird books - both Read-It-Yourself and Read-With-Me, ranging from ages one to 11 years, primary school books, numerous colouring books, children’s novels, charts, art and crafts books and games. For 13 to 18 year olds a wide range of novels, secondary schools books (for local and international syllabuses) and comics are available. Games like Scrabble and Jenga are also in stock.
For college students, Bookworld stocks books on subjects such as management accounting, law, medicine and business. The company has a great variety of cooking books, magazines from both South Africa and India, motivational books and travel books. Bookworld also caters for businesses and has a large selection of stationery items.
Bookworld is a supplier of a wide range of books from leading publishers including Oxford, Cambridge, Pearson, Longman, Continuum, BBP, Foulkslynch, Elsevier, Heinemann, Nelson Thornes, Macmillan and John Murray.
Specialised services
Bookworld caters for specific academic needs. The Ridgeway Bookworld stocks medical books for the University of Zambia Ridgeway Campus students. The other two university bookshops (on the main Lusaka campus and Copperbelt University campus respectively) are geared to meeting the needs of those students. Every year a Library of Congress representative visits Bookworld to buy any new books published in Zambia.
Support for Zambian writers and publishers
Bookworld actively encourages and supports all Zambian writers and publishers. It is a long-standing member of the Booksellers Association of Zambia (BAZA). Through involvement in this forum, the company has contributed to the development of education in Zambia.
