Lake Harvest feed their fish a balanced, almost wholly vegetarian, diet that is made on site under strict  supervision. The feed is non- GMO cereal based to help produce healthy fish. A small proportion of fish meal is sourced from a sustainable fishery, but it is their intent to completely phase out the fish meal. This is currently being researched.

Natural farming
Lake Harvest uses natural breading methods, the company operates a farming process that both enables the fish to live a natural life and brings quality product to the consumer. They use chemicals or pharmaceuticals only during the growing phase to either promote growth or control disease.

Lake Harvest operate to the highest world class standards, they breed from indigenous African fish and grow their fish in floating cages in large reservoirs and lakes. As wholesale fish suppliers the work closely with the local authority and take great care to ensure that they comply with every legal food safety requirement throughout all aspects of their business operations.

The fish farm in Zambia is near Siavonga on Lake Kariba, within 15 kilometres of Lake Harvest Zimbabwe. Established in 2012, the farm currently produces 2,000 tons and is expected to grow to 10,000 tons.

This Zambian based business has its own lake-based cage farming operation and a processing facility. The farm is supported by Lake Harvest Zimbabwe’s hatchery and distribution outlets.
