The IT Support Officer will be responsible for installing and configuring of IT hardware and software, reporting and end user support

The IT Support Officer will report to the ICT Manager and provide hardware and software support and maintenance, backups and network security.

Summary of Key Responsibilities

Installing and configuring computer hardware, software, systems, networks, printers and scanners

Providing IT support to all users through a series of actions such as face-to-face or over the telephone, to help resolve issues

Responsible for data backups and restoring of data as required.

Maintain current and accurate inventory of technology hardware, software and resources.

Providing support for antivirus and anti-spam for the whole network environment.

Monitoring and supporting internet, website and security infrastructure.

Identifying training and support needs for users and recommending to the supervisor

Undertaking any other tasks that may reasonably be requested by the supervisor.

Report writing

Essential technical knowledge

Understanding of Microsoft desktop and server applications

Ability to adapt and learn new systems

Knowledge of ICT hardware troubleshooting repairs and support including, printers, computers, scanners and mobile devices

Understanding and support skills of Local area networks (LANs) and LAN related technology and equipment (Switches, routers and Ethernet extenders)

Understanding of anti-virus software

Knowledge of data storage media such as network-attached storage (NAS), and storage area networks (SANs) and related technologies


Degree in Computer Science/Information Systems, Systems Engineering or a related field.

IT Certifications will give an advantage

Two 2 years of work experience in an IT Support department.
