Planning/Reliability Coordinator (Process)

Barrick Lumwana Mining Company Ltd (LMC), a copper mining company owned by Barrick Gold Corporation is situated in the North Western region of Zambia, some 300 km west of the Zambian Copperbelt and 95 km south west of the provincial capital of Solwezi. The mine is a multi-pit, multi staged operation mining approximately 100MT of ore and waste per annum and producing copper concentrates containing an average of 120,000 tonnes of copper metal per year over a twenty (20) year mine life, making Lumwana the largest single open cut copper mine in Africa. The Company is now looking for an experienced and qualified individual to be considered for the position of Planning Coordinator.

Role Summary

  • Reporting to the Planning, Engineering and Reliability Superintendent, you will support the operations in maximising the utilisation of the assets through safe, cost effective and reliable equipment. Your duties will include but not limited to the following:

Responsibilities

  • Develop short and long term integrated maintenance schedules of work that optimises equipment downtime and resource utilization
  • Training and development plans in place and tracked with the Reliability Engineering teams
  • Oversee the development of whole of life equipment strategies that utilize RCM techniques
  • Oversee the development of life cycle cost models for critical mobile fleet and fixed plant equipment
  • Oversee the improvement in equipment reliability through data analysis, root cause analysis, condition monitoring, defect elimination and equipment strategy validation in field
  • Oversee the development and deployment of reliability processes such as RCA, defect elimination and QA / QC, validates process effectiveness and ensures gap closure plans are in place
  • Provide technical support in reliability engineering and for critical mobile fleet and fixed plant equipment
  • Experience in budgeting process and cost controls for maintenance department
  • Good computer skills with the ability to use integrated management systems, word processing, presentation and spreadsheet applications.
  • Develop detailed scopes of work for future planned work schedules that improves resource effectiveness and reduces risk
  • Offer support to supervisor positions so to be able to assess work place efficiencies and provide guidance to workplace supervisors
  • Generate report on machine availability through the use of a recognized CMMS preferably Pronto

Experience & Qualifications

  • Degree in Mechanical /Electrical /Industrial Engineering
  • Member of the Zambian Institute of Engineers
  • Minimum of 10 years mining experience in the reliability function focused on either large scale mobile fleet or fixed plant
  • Demonstrated experience in reliability improvement
  • Demonstrated experience in coaching and mentoring team members to achieve higher levels of proficiency in reliability
  • High levels of competency in equipment strategy development using RCM methods, life cycle costing, root cause analysis (RCA) and defect elimination processes
  • Competent in condition monitoring techniques and data interpretation inclusive of oil condition, thermography, vibration analysis, thickness testing
  • Competent in maintenance work management processes and supporting processes such as Rotables management and spares management
  • Be physically fit and be able to pass a pre-employment medical examination
  • Hold a valid drivers licence
  • Ability to read and interpret Microsoft project softwareZambian Nationals who meet requirements for this position and are resident in Zambia are strongly encouraged to apply
