Authority Secretary (X1)

The Water Resources Management Authority (WARMA) is a statutory body incorporated under the Water Resources Management Act No. 21 of 2011 of the Laws of Zambia. The mandate of WARMA is to conserve, preserve, and protect Zambia’s ground and surface water resources and regulate its allocation, use, development and management of water in a sustainable manner based on IWRM principles. WARMA seeks to recruit for the following positions based at the WARMA HEAD Office in Lusaka. Only Zambian citizens with the requisite qualifications are eligible to apply for these positions:

Purpose of the job.

  • To lead, coordinate and control Legal and Board secretarial functions in order to contribute to the achievement of the Authority’s mandate.

Principal Accountability.

The roles and responsibilities of the Authority Secretary, include but not limited to the following;

  • Manage all Board and Committee meetings.
  • Advise the Board on its roles and responsibilities.
  • Advise the Authority on all legal matters to ensure that the interests of the Authority are safeguarded.
  • Monitor corporate governance developments and assist the Board in tailoring governance practices to meet Board’s needs and stakeholder expectations.
  • Maintain key corporate documents and records.
  • Undertake a variety of ad hoc activities, such as preparation of writs, summons of appearance, delivery of summons, preparation of a variety of memorandum, etc.
  • Perform any other WARMA related duties as the supervisor may request from time to time.

Qualifications and Experience.

  • The candidate must possess
  • A full grade 12 School Certificate with 5 “O” levels including English language.
  • Bachelor of Laws (LLB)
  • Must be an Advocate of the High Court of Zambia with a valid Legal Practitioner’s Certificate.
  • Member of the Law Association of Zambia.
  • Minimum of eight (8) years’ post qualification experience with at least five (5) years in a senior management position.

Remuneration. WARMA will offer a three (3) year renewable contract with a competitive package to right candidate for each of the positions.
