Location: Kmh – Solwezi

Purpose Of The Role

  • At MBCC, our Radiographers work closely with the Medical and Nursing Teams to provide a safe, efficient and quality diagnostic imaging service that supports prompt patient diagnosis.
  • They carry out the day-to-day running of the diagnostic service with support and supervision from the Chief Medical Officer.

Key Duties

  • Manage and run the diagnostic imaging department, supervise staff and perform administrative duties to a standard of professional excellence.
  • Take responsibility for radiation safety in the work area, including checking equipment for malfunctions and errors.
  • Assist in more complex radiological examinations, working with specialist doctors
  • Oversee and manage all training of MBCC Radiography Techs.
  • Be the point of reference for all queries or questions in relation to the department. Educate medical and clinical staff on new developments in diagnostic imaging to enhance patient diagnosis and treatment.
  • Keep up to date with health and safety guidelines, including ionising radiation regulations, to protect MBCC staff, patients and visitors.
  • Perform X-Ray/ CT scan / ultrasound procedures etc, to support medical or surgical diagnosis; occupational health check-ups and any patient referrals requested by the Medical Doctor.
  • Complete any diagnostic imaging (DI) audits as part of the hospital reporting or audit schedule and submit all audits on time to the Medical Director and Quality Department.
  • Maintain and promote international standards of good diagnostic practices at all times.
  • Have a good working knowledge of patient rights in relation to consent and withdrawal of consent.

  • Prepare reports on diagnostic imaging services provided each month including type and number of x-rays performed, chemicals/films usage, extra-ordinary x-rays taken or sent to other sites for analysis, film wastage each month (with reason for wastage) and maintenance/repair of diagnostic equipment.
  • All reports are submitted to the CMO.
  • Hospital/Clinic Manager Each Month.

Required Technical Skills, Training & Experience

  • Full Grade Twelve (12) School Certificate
  • Relevant qualifications and registrations as radiographer
  • Post graduate qualification in ultrasonography.
  • HPCZ Registration
  • 3 – 5 years’ experience
  • 3D/4D ultrasound experience, added advantage
  • DXR experience, advantage
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Excellent team working skills
  • Computer Skills
