Finance Director – Zambia Country Program

PATH has been working in support of the Zambia Ministry of Health since 2004. The Zambia Country Program portfolio includes projects across priority health programs such as malaria, nutrition and immunization as well as policy and advocacy with funding from USAID and Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. With a staff compliment of over 100, the PATH Zambia office is fast growing and the second largest office in Africa.


  • Maintain project accounts in accordance with DFID policy and procedures.
  • Ensure project expenditures are in accordance with the approved budget, project grant, and DFID policies and cost principles.
  • Develop and manage project budget and pipeline to ensure the project operates within the approved obligation and budget ceiling.
  • Monitor monthly financial performance in relation to budgets and forecasts, obligated funds, commitments, and advances to subcontractors and consultants.
  • Provide detailed analysis of costs, budgets, contract, and funding agency requirements as needed.
  • Provide oversight and technical assistance to the pooled fund.

Required Experience

  • Demonstrated knowledge and skills in accounting, financial management, and procurement is required.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and extensive experience with DFID regulations and control systems.
  • Demonstrated expertise in administration of DFID grants, financial management, and direct project management.
  • Excellent management, communication, and organization skills are essential. Strong analytical and computer skills, especially spreadsheet and financial analysis.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage partner budgets and subcontracts, ability to build relationships.
  • Ability to manage diverse team and work with technical staff.
  • Fluency in English required.
  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or related field.
  • Minimum of 15 years of experience required, including administration of DFID grants, financial management, direct project management.
  • Experience managing pooled fund programs between £25-50 million.
  • Experience managing pooled fund management programs.
