Data Collection Assistants

Job Description

Purpose

  • LR Program aims to restore and improve the livelihoods of the people who have been displaced by the activities of the Lusaka Water Supply, Sanitation, and Drainage Project that is expanding and upgrading the drainage and sewage systems in northern Lusaka.
  • The program aims to provide these people with new skills and knowledge that will enable them to run viable businesses, which the aim to provide them and their families with a level of income that is better than when they were previously farming.

Objective of the assignment

  • The Data Collection Assistant will assist in the collection, recording and reporting of all significant data and information related to the project affected persons (PAPs) for a specific period of the Livelihood Restoration Program (LR Program).
  • The Data Collection Assistant, under the supervision of the M&E assistant, will collect both quantitative and qualitative data.

Specific tasks

  • Collect quantitative and qualitative data required for reporting.
  • Participate in regular site-visits to collect data and collate data from various sources, including PAP, mentors, and the LRC team.
  • Produce tracking data reports for required LR Program Reports.
  • Assist M&E Assistant with data collection and archiving.
  • Enter data into and maintain database, as needed

Desired qualifications

  • Diploma in a social science
  • Previous experience conducting field data collection
  • Good business acumen with strong analytical, numerical and observation abilities
  • Ability to travel to field sites in Lusaka
  • Fluency in Bemba and Nyanja (Verbal)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Previous work on similar development projects/studies desirable
  • Ability to use mobile devices for data collection
  • Ability to present complex information in a succinct and compelling manner
  • Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills including influencing and negotiating.
