Kagem Mining Ltd, based in Lufwanyama, is the world’s single largest emerald producer. It covers an area of approximately 41 square kilometers and is in the central part of the Ndola Rural Emerald Restricted Area (“NRERA’), in the Copperbelt Province of Zambia. Kagem is seeking remarkable candidates to join the team, in the positions of Head Engineering, Materials Manager and Senior Materials Officer.

Reports to Head- Engineering

Job Purpose:

  • To coordinate the works in implementing and maintenance of standards as per OEM recommendation.

Principle Accountabilities

  • Ensure application of National and International Engineering best standards/practices
  • Maximize availability of equipment for effective and continuous mining operations.
  • Implementation of all statutory requirement and safety policy at Engineering department
  • Budgeting and cost control for acquisition, repair and replacement of equipment
  • Control and maintenance of mining equipment / Vehicles through regular fleet inspections, scheduled and preventive maintenance.
  • Develop and implement quality management system and maintain a safe work place for all employees.
  • Plan and execute the daily work schedules and produce regular reports.
  • Provide effective leadership to motivate, train and develop the team and maintain required discipline among them.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical / Automobile Engineering with min 5 years’ experience or Diploma in Mechanical or Automobile Engineering with min 8 years’ experience, with preferably 2 years in the mining industry.
  • Experience in fleet maintenance software and good computer skills.
  • Must have current certification from EIZ
  • Excellent analytical and evaluation skills
  • Good command of both oral and written communication
