Cost & Management Accountant

Accountabilities & Responsibility Areas

  • Preparation of monthly management accounts to agreed timescales, including balance sheet reconciliations and variance commentary.
  • Management of fixed asset register & completion of Capital expenditure request forms
  • Bi-annual fixed asset verification
  • Assist with annual budgeting process
  • Perform month end close activities related to cost accounting
  • Carry out financial analysis and investigation on costs to improve performance and support new opportunities
  • Assist with year-end audit processes
  • Monthly inter-company confirmations and reconciliation of any differences in timely manner
  • Ensure the proper recording of transactions and disclosures in line with companies accounting policies
  • Co-ordinating of cyclical and year end stock counts

Education, Skills and Qualifications

  • Full CIMA, ACCA, ACA or equivalent professional qualification
  • Member of ZICA
  • At least 5 years’ experience of which 3 must have been spent in audit in an accounting firm
  • Cost & management accounting experience including budgeting, forecasting and reporting.
  • Strong analytical skills to identify, assess and explain performance variances from budget/forecast
  • A knack to develop or change processes to improve efficiency
  • Experience in Managing a team of 2 to 3 people though not a must.
  • Commercially aware
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and a methodical approach in the execution of duties
  • Private sector mindset and confidence in dealing with a multi-cultural business environment
