Credit Administration & Monitoring Head

Zambia National Commercial Bank Plc (Zanaco) is inviting applications from suitably qualified and experienced individuals for the following job aimed at contributing to the Bank’s strategic vision, in the Credit Risk Division under the Credit Administration Department at Head Office:-

Job Purpose

  • Supervise the maintenance of the entire documentation associated with credit applications, credit support, control systems and other practices necessary to manage the risk assets of the Bank and effectively monitor their performance.

Under the supervision of the Chief Credit Risk Officer, the following are among the Job Key Responsibilities: –

  • Supervise the post-approval/disbursement monitoring of the risk asset book to minimize loan losses.
  • Daily post-disbursement reviews of credit facilities to ensure compliance with approved terms and conditions.
  • Monitor the credit portfolio for concentration risk and advise appropriate actions.
  • Monitor borrower’s compliance with covenants and agreed terms and conditions of a facility.
  • Identify deteriorating accounts for prudential classification and transfer to debt recovery.
  • Identify early warning signals and flag likely problem loans before they crystallize and guide relationship management teams on promptly addressing early warning signals.
  • Ensure that all processing & facility fees/commissions have been levied on all disbursed facilities and appropriate interest rates applied.
  • Manage the Credit Administration team to handle daily administration for loan documentation in full compliance with the internal standards and external regulatory requirements.
  • Establish and manage the collateral management system that ensures a robust process for the safe custody and control of all security documents.
  • Supervise collateral valuation, collateral monitoring and collateral reconciliation with original documents.
  • Ensure that approval from relevant authorities is held for deferral/waiver of incomplete documentation.
  • Daily monitoring of past due and watch-listed loan accounts and engage relationship managers for account regularization.
  • Ensure that departmental operations, including the preparation of loan documentation, provisioning and reporting of exceptions are done in timely and efficient manner.
  • Monitor security to ensure appropriate coverage is in place over assets pledged as collateral, and that assets are properly assigned to the Bank.
  • Maintain centralized filing system for all credit risk exposures and control credit files and security documentation.
  • Monitor performance of the loan portfolio and report to management on a periodic basis.
  • Review loans and limits maintained in the system to ensure they are booked as per the approval terms.
  • Ensure compliance with the Bank’s credit risk appetite, international best practice and local regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure and coordinate timely closure of all audit and regulatory exceptions.
  • Any other duties as may be assigned by management.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Grade 12 Credit or above mandatory in Mathematics and English and any other three subjects.
  • Degree in a relevant discipline or a relevant professional qualification.
  • At least eight to ten (8-10) years’ experience in a related role with at least 3 years in a senior management position.
  • Knowledge of Central Bank’s regulatory requirements on lending and reporting.
  • Knowledge of credit administration, loan documentation and credit monitoring.
  • Knowledge of operations, core business processes and business risk management.
  • Credit analysis skills.
  • Experience in Fraud Detection & Control.
