Job grade: P12

Minimum Required Qualifications and Experience:

  • Grade 12
  • Basic counselling qualificationiploma in Pharmacy
  • 1 years experience in counselling
  • Registration with the Health Professions Council of Zambia
  • Previous public sector experience preferably within HIV field

Desirable Qualifications and Experience:

  • Matric / Grade 12
  • Basic counselling qualification
  • 2 years experience in counselling
  • Knowledge of the Zambian public healthcare sector
  • Technical and Behavioural Competencies:
  • Problem solving skills
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Counselling skills
  • Ability to communicate in local language
  • Ability to perform TB\HIV counselling

Key Performance Areas:

  • Providing pre- and post counselling
  • Conducting health education to HIV\AIDS\TB patients
  • Counselling of patients
  • Assist patients in making informed decisions
  • Reassuring patients about the confidentiality when doing pre-and post counselling
  • Built up rapport between patient and workplace
  • Detect and report barriers to adherence
  • Liaise between patient in the community / work place and a health facility for entering to care
  • Presenting reports to multidisciplinary team for inputs
  • Entering into the daily register each patient counselled or educated i. e. their age, gender etc.
  • Compile and store regular reports relating to RTC – supported HIV service as required by RTC management
