As part of its support to the agriculture sector in Africa, in 2014 the German Development Cooperation launched the Special Initiative “ONE WORLD-No Hunger” which aims to sustainably eradicate hunger and malnutrition. Under the framework of this special initiative, the project Green Innovation Centres (GIC) for the Agriculture and Food Sector in Zambia aims to contribute to sustainable rural development by empowering small-scale farmers and cooperatives with skills and capacities to improve their income and employment situation. To reach these goals, GIZ promotes a holistic set of innovations along the groundnut, soya bean and dairy value chains. As an extension module “Animal Health” has been identified.
