The Zambia Institute for Policy Analysis and Research (ZIPAR) is a semi-autonomous Think-Tank whose mandate is to conduct socio-economic research and policy analysis in order to provide evidence-based policy advice to the Government, the private sector, civil society and other stakeholders in Zambia. ZIPAR also promotes economic literacy thereby encouraging increased stakeholder participation in national policy dialogue and debate on economic topics of wide public interest. ZIPAR is an equal opportunity employer. We therefore, invite applications from suitably qualified candidates to fill the position in our Transport Section:

Duties and Accountabilities:

  • To ensure that the vehicle is checked for road worthiness regularly and is properly licensed on time and all the time
  • Carry out engine checks daily to ensure optimum levels of fuel and lubricants
  • To ensure vehicles are subjected to routine preventive maintenance to avoid motor vehicle breakdowns by reporting when repairs/service is due
  • To ensure that tyre pressures are checked regularly to avoid unnecessary wear of tyres
  • To drive carefully and follow laid down speed limits at all times
  • To take good care of mail, cargo etc and deliver to destinations promptly
  • To be polite to throughout the course of duties and courteous at all times
  • Maintain vehicle log book daily by noting date, destination, departure and arrival times and submit reports as requested by Finance/administration officer
  • Provide off-hours transport support, including weekend pickup and drop-off of Staff and consultants as needed.
  • Always keep ZIPAR vehicles clean
  • To ensure the safety of passengers, goods and motor vehicle at all times
  • Any other duties assigned by the supervisor

Qualifications and Experience

  • Must be a holder of a valid driving licence
  • Should have experience driving dignitaries
  • Basic mechanics skill or knowledge
  • Smart and of a sober disposition
  • At least five years of driving experience
  • Ability to drive long distances in both paved and gravel roads
  • At least Grade 12
