Duties/ Responsibilities


  • Oversee the operations (specifically allocated area) of Hungry Lion to meet business goals and projections.
  • Collaborate closely with the Head of Operations and produce reports on company operations.
  • Empower the operational team with the leadership and resources they need to successfully complete operations initiatives, lead employees to encourage maximum performance and dedication.
  • Positively represent the company at all times through a success-oriented and professional demeanor.
  • Partner with other department heads to accomplish short and long-term operational goals.
  • Measure and report on operational performance and develop plans to improve relevant success measurements.
  • Implement effective processes and procedures to take Hungry Lion to the next level of operations.
  • Set goals and objectives for performance and growth for Hungry Lion, with the Head of Operations
  • Oversee daily production and maintenance operations for Hungry Lion.
  • Evaluate performance through analysing and interpreting data and metrics.

People Management:

  • Provide effective functional leadership to direct reports to ensure operational excellence
  • Communicate brand strategy and overall business and operational strategies to direct reports to empower them to achieve established targets and objectives
  • Monitor and analyse the staff movement and turnover trends in regions in order to ensure sufficient manpower and team stability
  • Build people capability through the implementation of a culture of recognition, succession management practices, execution of the Area Bench Planning and internal promotion processes within each one of the restaurants in order to motivate staff

Increase Profitability:

  • Drive achievement of regional operational excellence through managing Food Cost GAP, Cost of Labour and controllable expenses in line with budget
  • Analyse information obtained from Food cost Gap report to facilitate corrective measures
  • Conduct monthly Brand Standard Audits on all Stores in designated region to monitor profitability
  • Guide direct reports in applying Good to Great Performance Matrix, P&L and appropriate reports to analyse business and establish and execute tactics for improvement
  • Drive ownership of profit plan by aligning management teams, communicating goals and coaching on improvements
  • Facilitate operational excellence by ensuring that staffing levels adheres to the business and store requirements
  • Maximise profit by ensuring effective implementation of marketing promotions and identifying and recommending sales growth opportunities
  • Guide management team to implement initiatives to improve profitability
  • Alert marketing/operations to competitive activities within area and recommend action
  • Monitor the effective and efficient implementation of in-store promotions in regions

Customer Satisfaction:

  • Continuously coach direct reports around policies, procedures and standards to enhance customer service excellence and ensure returned business
  • Monitor and analyse customer complaints in order to identify critical problem areas within regions
  • Design systems to enable the feedback of trends to the marketing department

Risk Management and Compliance Assurance:

  • Minimise risk by escalating serious matters and other issues to prevent legal action
  • Minimise risk by ensuring that serious customer complaints are handled correctly
  • Consistently maintain internal security is kept at a maximum level according to company policy and procedures
  • Oversee the consistent implementation of company policies and procedures by direct reports to ensure compliance
  • Ensure that regions adhere to programmes initiated by departments e.g. HR, finance, etc. to ensure compliance
  • Ensure that Company Standards (i.e. BSA evaluations) are met and that all procedures are followed at all times
  • Health and Safety – Ensure adherence to health and safety standards and regular evaluation of restaurant cleanliness and sanitation
  • Ensure that BSA sections pertaining to banking procedures are adhered to in regions
  • Ensure that BSA sections pertaining to health and safety are adhered to in regions

Minimum Requirements:

  • Grade 12 essential
  • Relevant tertiary qualification advantageous
  • Minimum 5 years’ management experience in quick-service restaurant
  • (QSR)/fast food industry
  • Solid understanding of financial principles
  • Valid driver’s licence
