The National Food and Nutrition Commission is a statutory Body established under an Act of Parliament CAP 308 Chapter 41 of 1967, with the mandate of providing promotional, advisory and regulatory support to government on matters of food and nutrition. In line with its mandate, NFNC with support from partners, is implementing Phase Two (2) of the Multisectoral Scaling Up Nutrition (SUN)/ 1st 1000 Most Critical Days Program in various districts across Zambia.

The Institution now invites applications from suitably qualified candidates to fill up positions under this program, at National level:

5.1 Job Purpose

To coordinate planning and implementation of the 1st 1000 Most Critical days program in the province in order to contribute to reduction of all forms of malnutrition

5.2 Key Result Area Principal Accountability (Main Duties)

  • Coordination Coordinates planning and implementation of the food and nutrition multisectoral plans in the districts and the province through the District Nutrition Coordinating Committees (DNCCs) and Provincial Nutrition Coordinating Committees (PNCCs).
  • Management Efficiently and effectively manages financial and materials resources assigned to him/her in order to ensure appropriate utilization and accountability.
  • Monitoring & Evaluation Participates actively in monitoring and evaluation of on the minimum packages of nutrition specific and nutrition sensitive in order to assess their effectiveness and impact.
  • Technical support/backstopping Provides technical supportive services and backstopping to stakeholders in order to ensure effective implementation of the minimum packages of nutrition specific and nutrition sensitive interventions
  • Performance Management Regularly interacts with provincial level sector nutrition focal points and other technical staff to ensure planned activities are implemented to achieve expected results/outputs and supervises the day to day performance of District Nutrition Support Coordinators.
  • Documentation Facilitates documentation and sharing processes, lessons learned and best practices with other stakeholders and district
  • Reports Prepares and submits progress and annual reports to NFNC and the Provincial Permanent Secretary and District Commissioner’s Office, as well as sharing reports with PNCC committee members.

5.3 Education and Professional Qualifications

  • Full Grade 12 Certificate or equivalent
  • Minimum of Bachelors’ Degree in Nutrition or Public Health
  • Minimum five years of relevant work experience in the nutrition sector
  • Computer literate in Microsoft Office, and Outlook

5.4 Knowledge And Skills

  • Able to write analytical and technical reports
  • Able to communicate effectively in English
  • Able to work with people of different culture
  • Experience in training
