Farm manager - Zaliwana Farms (Ndola)

Zaliwana farms is a family owned business located in Ndola on the Kabwe road, off Tug Argan turn off, with a hectarage of 60.

The farm runs a mixed farming system with horticulture (cabbage, tomatoes, onion, green beans, impwa and eggplants) cereal crops (maize and soya beans) and animals- chickens, goats and pigs.

The farm is looking to recruit a dynamic and energetic farm manager.

The primary role of the person sought will be to ensure that:

i) The farm is efficiently run on a day to day basis, becomes self-sustaining in the first quarter of the year and starts making a profit that can be re-invested to develop the business further.

Academic qualifications:

Degree or Diploma from a recognised institution.

We have high expectations of the person we wish to employ, therefore, the following skills should be evident.

  • Excellent communication skills: Oral, written and ICT.
  • Leadership: Should be able to lead and motivate a team of staff.
  • Management: Efficient management of time and resources.
  • Planning: Someone who can set up achievable goals in advance, however, has the ability to amend them when need arises.
  • Proactive: is able to anticipate problems and tackle them before they arise.
  • Vision: Someone who can set a clear vision for the farm and has strategies in order to achieve this.

Personal attributes

  • Energetic and in good health in order to manage the challenges of this new farm.
  • Positive attitude: You must have a “can do” attitude.

Experience of running a farm will be important. Most importantly, the ability to successfully carry out this role.

Salary is negotiable. A bonus will also be paid on profits realised from the farm.

Accommodation will be provided.
