Victoria Falls day trip
The guests will be accompanied through the Rainforest by a qualified Wild Horizons guide, who will give a brief history of the Falls themselves as well as detailing the flora, fauna, bird & wildlife and other points of interest. After this, they are then taken to the market, where clients have the opportunity to shop in the open air curio market and shops for souvenirs and gifts. The visit to the market ends at around 12:30 thereafter, clients are taken to enjoy lunch at the Lookout Café overlooking the stunning Batoka Gorge and Victoria Falls Bridge.
After lunch, guests visit the Zambezi Nature Sanctuary and Crocodile Ranch. The Sanctuary & Ranch offer guest a unique insight into the Zambezi Crocodiles life which is also home to a variety of wild animals including lion & leopard. The guests are then returned to the Kazungula Border where they are be met by their Botswana Guide for their return transfer to their hotel in Kasane, arriving at approximately 17:40.
Guests are collected at 08:00 and transferred to Zambia. On arrival in Zambia, they do a guided Tour of the Falls. They will then have the option of any two of the tours below, one before and one after lunch. Lunch is provided at a Livingstone restaurant (excluding drinks, which will need to be settled by the guest direct with the restaurant). Guests are transferred back to Botswana or Zambia border at approximately 16:00.
Note: The Botswana and Zambia border closes at 18:00 promptly and there is no flexibility in time on this tour.
Chief Mukuni’s Village – Zambia
These daily tours are of Mukuni Village which is home to the Leya people. The guests have the opportunity to learn more about the interesting culture whilst being shown around the village and Chief Mukuni’s Palace as well as having the opportunity to try out their traditional food & beer.
Dambwa Market – Zambia
A visit to the Dambwa market is incorporated to give a local flavour and an insight to how a lot of the local people of today buy and sell goods such as traditional foodstuffs, basic housewares and fabrics or even livestock etc. The tour lasts around two and half hours and may be booked in the morning or afternoon. These tours may be combined with other historical or cultural tours to make a full morning or day out with a very good lunch. Departure from the Livingstone Day Activity Centre is at the guest's’ convenience but pick up is usually at 08:00 or 13:00.
Dambwa Market tours include the services of a qualified guide and bottled mineral water. Children under 12 pay half the price whereas children under two go through at no charge.
Simonga Village Tour – Zambia
These daily tours are of Simonga Village, home to approximately 3000 inhabitants – a mixture of the Lozi and Tonga tribes. The village was founded in 1958 and is situated approximately 20 kilometers from Livingstone town, along the Kazungula and Sesheke road which runs parallel to the Zambezi River as it flows down towards the Victoria Falls.
This village is quite unique as it is one of only three in the entire country of Zambia that is ruled by a head woman, Inonge Imusho Samachila, who was chosen by the Royal Family to rule in 1970, following the death of her father Imusho Samachila. Upon arrival, guests are escorted through the village by a local resident, where they are introduced to the daily activities of an African village.
Lunar Rainbow Tours
Lunar rainbows also known as “moon bows” are rainbows that take place at night when a rainbow is seen in the light of the moon. Victoria Falls is one of the limited number of sites around the world which are known for the occurrence of moon bows. The lunar rainbow is a spectacular event that can be seen only during the full moon.
The Lunar rainbow tour is conducted over a period of three days, during full moon at the Victoria Falls. guests will be accompanied through the rain forest by one of the company's qualified guides who then give a brief history of the falls themselves as well as other points of interest. Guides are also happy to assist guests with photographs whilst visiting this most spectacular of waterfalls. Raincoats are provided when needed.

Zambezi Nature Sanctuary and Crocodile Ranch
This morning or afternoon guided tour stops at the “Big Tree” for a convenient photo opportunity enroute to the Sanctuary. The Sanctuary & Ranch offer guests a unique insight into the Zambezi Crocodiles life and is also home to a variety of wild animals including lion & leopard. In the hatching season, clients may even hold a baby crocodile, and as this is a commercial farm, various Crocodile by-products are on display and for sale in the form of gifts & souvenirs at the Ranch Gift Shop.
The Cultural Connection
The 'Cultural Connection'package is specifically designed for those wishing to see more of Victoria Falls' local culture, meet more local people, and generally become more in touch with the cultural and rural aspects of the Victoria Falls region. This package consists of a Home Hosted Lunch, whereby guests will be accommodated, and treated to a home cooked traditional meal, in the home of a friendly local resident. After the traditional lunch, which consists of a variety of local delicacies and staples, guests then embark on a 'Meet the People' tour, which enables the guest to see rural life first hand and is a great way to appreciate the rich and deep culture that the region has to offer.
The Pay It Forward Experience – Zimbabwe
This is an experience where guests can really give back to the community, whilst still enjoy a fun, challenging exploration of the markets and town of Victoria Falls. Wild Horizons will provide the group with a selection of organisations in Victoria Falls that could use some form of support (it could be an old age home, orphanage, local clinic etc).
Once the guest chooses which organization they would like to support, they are given a 'wish list' from the chosen charity. There after, the guests embark on a mission to source the items from in and around Victoria Falls town. Once the items have been sourced, the guests are to be transferred to the area to meet and interact with the recipients and deliver the goods before being transferred back to their hotel.
Meet the People- Zimbabwe
Guests are taken to an authentic rural village approximately 20km from Victoria Falls town where they are given the opportunity to watch local villagers going about their daily tasks. The tour enables the client to see rural life first hand; visiting rural homes, watching their fields being tended and possibly getting the chance to help in some of the day-to-day chores.
Guests are able to gain an insight into Zimbabwean rural life. This enables visitors to understand the cultural aspect of this lifestyle and allows them to interact with different cultures, often for the first time. This is a good experience for children.
Shopping
A daily tour designed for those enthusiastic shoppers on the lookout for bargains and keen to try their hand at the African system of ‘barter-trade’. The tour visits open-air markets & crochet halls as well as a variety of galleries & shops selling everything under the sun – almost!
Items on offer include all sorts of stone sculptures and authentic African art, local crochet, zimbabwe hand-made textiles, wooden carvings, Zimbabwean jewellery and more.
Chinotimba Township Tour – Zimbabwe
The word Chinotimba describes the roar of the water from the mighty Victoria Falls in the local Nambya language. The Nambya and the Tonga people are the original people of the Victoria Falls area. The majority of people in Victoria Falls live in the Chinotimba township, which has a population of approximately 60 000 people. During this tour, guests will have an opportunity to observe township-life – from the oldest houses to the taverns, the local market and churches. During a visit to the Chinotimba Primary School, guests are introduced to the school headmaster – he or someone assigned will take the guests on a tour of the school after which the children may sing a song (Please note that school visits are subject to the schools being open).
