A versatile nutty tasting grain, great in both sweet & savoury dishes.
Instructions: Rinse 100g buckwheat thoroughly and bring 500ml of water to the boil in a large saucepan. Add the buckwheat to the boiling water, stir and reduce heat to a low and simmer for 20minutes until the water has been absorbed. Remove from the heat and drain off any excess water and stand for 10minutes. Separate the grains with a fork, season and use as instead of rice or in hearty salads.
When cooked according to instructions 40g of uncooked buckwheat weighs approximately 80g when cooked.
