Working in isolation
The healthcare workers at isolation centres are away from their families for four weeks. They spend two weeks working in the centre and then two weeks in quarantine to ensure they are not infected. They are facing constant exposure to the virus with little public recognition for their work. Yet they are the ones 'in the trenches' effectively leading the fight against corona virus.
Feeding our healthcare heroes
In countries around the globe the massive sacrifices of health heroes at the front-line have been recognised in a number of ways including scheduled country wide applause, meals and messages of encouragement and support. Lusaka Helps is bringing this to Zambia to recognise our health heroes by sending them tasty healthy meals.
Supporting local food businesses
By funding the meal drops, you will not only uplift the morale of our heroes, but also support Zambian businesses and the families that rely on them. Hotels, restaurants and caterers have been particularly hard hit by the virus as they have been forced to close their doors without any compensation. All food will be sourced through local businesses at subsidised rates.
How you can support this initiative
You can buy as little as 10 healthy meals or as many as 1,120, or more! If you are in a position to help, Lusaka Helps has the systems and an army of volunteers to get the meals to frontline health workers. Your money will go a long way.
Use of your funds and distribution of meals
Lusaka Helps is entirely volunteer led. They have no admin charges and 100% of all donations and contributions go towards the intended initiative.
When you buy meals for front line health workers, apart from transaction fees which we just cannot get round, all your money will go to the cooking and distribution of meals. This is because thebestofzambia.com has slashed its commissions to 0% to support the Lusaka Helps initiative in raising vital funds.
Lusaka Helps are transparent about donations and their use, giving all the facts on their Facebook page.
