Program Coordinator-Women Rights (INT5286)

The Role

Develop, lead, implement and monitor the program in line with the Oxfam and thematic program strategy.

Reports to: Program Manager-Women Rights

Contract type: fixed term, 2 years initially, renewable

Location: Lusaka, Zambia

What we are looking for:

  • We are looking for a Zambian National passionate about women issues with the following:
  • Academic degree in a relevant area for this position
  • Fluent in English (verbal and written);
  • At least five years of experience in managing complex programs;
  • Excellent financial management skills, with experience of project budgeting and controlling financial risks;
  • Comprehensive knowledge and experience of implementing the Gender and Sexual Reproductive Health and Rights programme, ideally built on mature understanding of relevant issues derived from field experience;
  • Good understanding of Zambia’s public policy processes including budgeting and citizen engagement desired;
  • Strong program management and quality knowledge, with ability to ensure consistent quality against standards and to implement effective monitoring and evaluation systems to assess and adjust performance;
  • Proven experience with proposal development and with donor funding environment

Country Program Background

  • Oxfam started working in Zambia in the 1980s. Since then, we have implemented both development and humanitarian programmes to support practical and innovative ways for people to lift themselves out of poverty.
  • We work with local stakeholders to find lasting solutions to the root causes which keep people in poverty.
  • Oxfam is currently collaborating with the Government, international and local CSOs, UN Agencies and other stakeholders.
  • Oxfam envisions a Zambia free of extreme inequality and injustice; a society where citizens and particularly women across all age groups claim and exercise their rights and responsibilities and can influence decisions that affect their lives.
