President Edgar Lungu is impressed with the works done so far on the 17 km Chamasongwe- Muchenga road in Chipangali District of Eastern Province.
Government through the Ministry of Local Government in April this year contracted Tomorrow Investments Limited to gravel the road at a cost of K30,817,232 million Kwacha.
Speaking on 22nd July 2018, when he inspected the road project on Sunday President Lungu urged the contractor to keep up the good work and remain resilient as a Zambian company in the construction sector.
“The works i have seen are impressive, keep up the good work. Government will support you with timely payments to ensure that the road is done in the shortest period possible.” He said.
And Tomorrow Investments Limited Projects Manager Trinity Dhanda informed the President that though the Project duration in the contract was 3 years the contractor intended to complete it in a year.
Eng. Dhanda said works on the project were on course and the contractor would soon complete all earthworks before installing pipe culverts and creating drainages.
“We have been dealing with a very rocky and difficult terrain due to the area having so many hills as you can see your excellency, but we are proud to report that works are on course and we will be completing the project within a year at the most,” he said.
Meanwhile Chipangali Member of Parliament Vincent Mwale informed the President that the people in his constituency were grateful to the Patriotic Front Government for the road.
“Your excellency as area member of Parliament I wish to report on behalf of the people of Chipangali that we are very happy and grateful for this road, it is very clear that our lives will be made much easier once this project is completed,” Mr. Mwale said.
