The beauty of visiting this park is the truly remarkable opportunities to experience Africa as it was. It is wild and untouched and you are simply an unobtrusive witness to its natural beauty and drama. Although declared a wilderness area, the North Luangwa National Park, was not open to anyone other than Game Department rangers for more than thirty years.
Game viewing on Shiwa Lake’s shores which is a natural lake with five rivers feeding into it boasts a large variety of bird life making bird watching excellent. The game farm and lake can be viewed on foot or by vehicle. Wildebeest, zebra, Kafue lechwe, puku and impala are some of the animals that can be spotted.
